I’m Jim Beaulieu, the proud owner of Fort Sask Reno Inc. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
While I always took an interest in building and creating, I pursued a career in the chemical industry until 2007, when I was suddenly laid off. Seeing a golden opportunity for gainful self-employment, I almost immediately reversed my misfortune, starting my own business centered around residential renovations in January of the same year. Initially operating as Beaulieu Enterprises, I was thrilled to have my own business, however, as few people can pronounce my last name and with a desire to develop a strong community connection, I rebranded and incorporated as Fort Sask Reno Inc.
My first year in business was a learning phase where I paid a tuition to a large Edmonton contracting company that put me through a residential siding installation course. Beaulieu Enterprises was a one-man show, I sided about 12 new construction homes for that large contractor. My next move was to learn the renovation part of the business. I hired on as a subcontractor for a company the specialized in renovations. I spent a year working and learning the siding renovation aspect of the trade. For the first couple of years, I had only the most basic tools, skills and equipment.
For the most part, our online presence was nil. Thirteen years later, operating under our current avatar, we have expanded our offerings into many more aspects of the renovation industry including but not limited to siding, soffit, fascia, eavestroughs, windows doors, stone work, capping and more. Since many people are not concerned with exterior renovations in the winter, we expanded our operations to include full interior renovations, including kitchens, bathrooms, basement development, flooring, tile work, plus more.
All my five children have worked along with me to make Fort Sask Reno Inc. a massive success. My children, Terence, Will, and Josie Beaulieu, have all put in their time throughout the years and still do on occasion. Currently, my son Tom leads field operations, while the youngest Levi is starting out as a carpenter apprentice in the business. We utilize multiple trailers, the best tools, the latest equipment, and multiple employees as well as subcontractors if necessary to make every project a success.
Both our popularity and visibility have grown exponentially with our online presence and new website. We are known throughout our community as a leading family renovation company that provides competent interior and exterior renovation expertise and our customer base is growing every day.
I absolutely love my job, I enjoy being self-employed, I am also always grateful for the amazing opportunity to work with my family, a rare blessing these days. I also get enormous satisfaction from transforming old homes into newer, more modern, energy-efficient versions of themselves. My approach to business is centered around excellent customer service and a desire to help my community. I strive to listen to my clients, confirm all requirements and plans, deliver on my promises with outstanding work and high-quality products while communicating efficiently throughout the process.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from my competitors is my commitment to performing my duties with honesty and integrity. I work on each home or project as if it were my own, and the results really do speak for themselves. I attribute my success to my never-say-die attitude, my years of hard work and our relentless drive for improvement and growth that has seen us become a household name in home renovation.
Aside from the very fulfilling aspects of working with my family, the ability to use my skills to help others less fortunate than myself, with free projects on occasion for the disabled, elderly, and needy, gives me immense satisfaction. We are also proud of being nominated and winning the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce business award for the best home-based business for the year 2013. We are also excited to be the proud recipients of the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year for 2020!
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my large family. We never miss a chance to get together for holidays and family events although with Covid, like everyone else, we have had to cut back on that, but we do look forward to life back to normal in 2021. We enjoy going on family vacations together, exploring Alberta, and enjoying the great outdoors.
I also try my best to give back to my community with regular donations to the Fort Saskatchewan food bank and doing the odd free job for those in need.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
